It's not about what we get but what the company get. We're supposed to feel inclined to fulfil these titles - which we do - and in return we keep playing and buy future releases. The titles are only a few hours of programming with a potential return of, well, quite a bit of cash.
We're led to believe that these titles reward our skill and effort whereas we know that every single one is grind. The marketing dept. seem to have employed a pyschologist. The thing I liked most about Guild Wars compared to other games is the lack of 'points' which measure how 'well' we're doing. Other than fame (and character level), there was no number counting prior to the introduction of titles. Numbers make us compelled to be the best which is bad for us but good for the business model. WTH is wrong with this game
I have more then 2000 hours on this char for a 12 months - have the I???m Very Important title too and imagine my surprise when i open my birthday present and i get a Fungal Wallow . Is this a rare gift? One thing that Anet don???t count when they give presents is how many accomplishments have a player in the game. I just feel sorry for the time a spend trying to do all that titles as fast as possible till the first birthday on my char. But hey its only a game 8(

*Shudders at the thought that people might actually try to earn something, without wanting something in return!* God forbid you just take pleasure and pride in yourself, when someone comes and says "Nice Title"! But nooo, these titles arent worth squat unless Anet gives us something in return. We MUST have a beneficial, substantial gain from achieving them, otherwise why bother? Well i suppose that what you have achived is diffrent for evryone. For me it is achivment to Ascend, and to have fun. To meet new people. But most of all achivment is to have fun with my friends. Titles - well i have few but they don't mean much to me. Only one i want to max right now is Holy Lightbringer. Only because i like the way it sounds.

Did Anet say "get lots of max titles and we'll give you this amazing rare item"? Hmm.....Nope! Im feeling all nastalgic of when I worked in a shop. All those countless days when id be working on the deli and a customer would come ask for something we didnt have. Id politely say "sorry we dont have that today" and withing 2 seconds Id hear "Why not? I want some now! Let me speak to the manager!!" Happy days!!! I cant believe how self-rightious some players can be. Just because a player puts in lots of hours of gameplay, and earns max titles, they think they deserve some kind of recognision. They think Anet should get down on bended knee and kiss their shoes. Did Anet force you to rush all those titles? Did Anet promise you anything if you did? Did they entice you into getting them? Again! nope, nope and nope! This would be like Superman asking Metropalis for a medal and asking for 5 days off a year, and minimum wage for rescuing the city every day. |

Let's think about the Hall of Monuments and how it could work in GW2.
We can support ANet this way, I am quite sure they have only a vague idea how to do this. First, should it give people tiny ingame advantages? I do not think so. Should it be purely cosmetic, just give fancy titles? How would inheritance work? Can only one of my Chars in GW2 inherit the "Legendary Guardian" title, or all? How many weapons can I pass down? My warrior has a truckload of weapons, my Ranger dozens of bows. Is the number of weapons I can pass over to GW2 related to the titles of my Char? Does only the char with the most titles "count"? Or do individual titles count? If I have three times a "Protector of..." do i get 3x the benefits? Actually, the more I think about this hall of monuments, I get the feeling it is going to be a good idea that backfires and pisses more people of than making them happy. I have the feeling it cannot be much that can be transferred. We might not be able to transfer weapons simply because the skin does no longer exist in GW2. We might get a ticket for a "legendary ascalonian weapon" or so. Will we be able to transfer the whole bunch of Minis? Or will we get a special new minipet for having this or that title? Actually, a simple monument with a list of achievements and maybe some special minis for a title would be nice. But I already see people whining. If the "Kind of a big deal" titles give extra rewards, it rewards people who focus on one char, e.g. those who play more than one char might feel forgotten and disadvantaged. |

Dont care much for material stuff being passed onto gw2 but I think every max title your character has should be transfered in some way ( almost at 25 now on my necro ).
What benefits we actually get in gw2 from these max titles will hopefully just be cosmetic, god knows some people would spit fire if it was more. Account titles are a different matter really, some are virtually impossible to max and as such should be able to transfer over benefits of certain magnitudes to gw2 depending on their rank. Simply put, each maxed character specific title should give something unique to your linked gw2 character. Nothing that would give unfair advantage, its a new game after all. Account titles give the same, just whatever they entail to your gw2 account should vary with the level of the titles. A bit long winded lol but I think this would serve to appease those of us that have many many titles without antagonising those out there that dont work on titles and cry like babies whenever anet rewards us rofl. |

I only do it for fun. It's kinda cool to have a goal; otherwise I'd just be out there farming scaled loot (Loot drops that have been diminished, not gold with actual scales on them). And when I'm cruising around in DoA and people ask me to wear my LB title I reply "Bah!, LB...don't need that noob..People Know Me" |

I believe that you should get rewards for your titles in GW2. You put the time and effort in, you should be rewarded. I'm not saying give them Uber items and crazy amounts of gold or something outrageous or anything like that but something fitting for the time and effort put in would make sense. An exclusive Mini of your character that has the most titles would be cool.(in cases of a tie, the oldest one, or heck just a mini of your oldest character)
Not giving a reward for people's time and effort would be the worst idea ever. I'm tired of people complaining about grinding and how the titles are not for the casual gamer, which is true, they aren't, but what makes you think that you should get, or not get, the same rewards as someone who plays twice as much as you and done twice as much as you have in the game? They deserve more because they play more, simple as that. Quote:
